P5 Planning your career development

Good morning Year 12

Well for those ready for P5 this blog page is now ready for you.

P5 is asking you to plan your own personal development plan during year 12.  As year 12 is an opportunity for you all to get back on track it seems a great opportuinity to use your time to get ahead and reflect on what you would like to do with the rest of your life.  Will you:

  1. Go to level 3 and study with a view to going to University
  2. Apply for an apprenticeship and train and earn
  3. Get a job and train in a company if your still not sure try the SWOT analysis on yourself below

SWOT ANALYSIS
You have already assessed your strengths and weaknesses in P3 but how well did you do it . The link here may help make this even clearer.  In business we look at the SWOT analysis of an idea before we progress it.  Looking at your strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats that you face once identified can be areas to develop.  You may find the following websites helpful to get yourself SWOTTING:

CAREER DEVELOPMENT PLANNING
Ultimately the self appraisal should lead to a career development plan.
Follow the link here      Examples included here
A handy worksheet might come in useful to start identifying areas to develop here

For P5 you need to be looking at three main stages:

The short term - this next twelve months
The medium term -  the next two years that follow or
The long term - what will you be doing in five years time

See example here
Think that will get you started on P2.
