4.1 Career Development Planning

Good Afternoon Year 12

Creating a career development plan is the final task for this current unit.  You are then free to work towards finishing off the previous units.

A career development plan will require you to choose a career or job from the many positions that you have considered throughout this unit.  Then you will need to carry out some genuine research of how you will achieve this job as evidence to achieve this final unit.

For example if you select a job as a human resources officer you will need to research what qualifications are required,  courses are run and how long they will take.

To help you with this you have the core text book read pages 153
 this should prove helpful.

Here is a career development template to complete just answer the questions and decide what your short, medium and long term goals are.

A completed example of a career development plan can be found here

This Information advice and guidance pack will also help steer you in the right direction in completing this task.

I expect this to take you the rest of the week if you have completed everything else.

Good luck and well done

What are my qualifications worth?

Good afternoon year 12.

We have until the 5th July to complete all the different units including this one so I hope you are using your time well.

The worksheet attached looks at the 'essential',  'desirable' and practical qualifications employers are looking for when they recruit new employees.

This National Qualification Framework link will show you how all academic, BTEC & NVQ, qualifiactions fit into the different levels within the UK.

Download the worksheet here and complete the table with all YOUR qualifications and explain the difference between 'essential', 'desirable' and practical qualifications in your own words.

Good luck and well done and thank you.
