Use more blended learning opportunities in the classroom...

This chap put out a rather refreshing video of how he engages those he teaches in the classroom so I shared it with my A-level Business class to inspire them to encourage their teachers to use more of it in the future.

How many Digital Leaders will take up the challenge over the next 12 months. I know of one young lady who will and is keen to use this as her EPQ topic.

Can you compete under pressure year 11's

Good morning 11S

well what could be more relevant to you than such a question right here and now.

  • The BBC have created a 20 minute test which you attempt four times.
  • Your competing to carry out the same activity but the computer program has been programmed to model your ability.
  • You need to beat your time so your competing really against yourself.
  • Michael Johnson will coach you half way with strategies in the hope it will have a positive and instant impact on your performance.

Announcing! Dragons Den Style Competition for Y7-9!


Special Competition open to ALL students in Years 7, 8 and 9!


First, the Prizes...


1) Opportunity to present to a real life Dragons Den style panel and win a competition for your House! This will include Mrs Croft!


2) Opportunity to be assigned Business Mentors in KS4 and KS5 that can help you to possibly turn your idea into a reality! The Business Department may even help you fund it!


3) Winning indivdual or team upto a maximum of 3 people to be entered into the TeenBiz National Entrepreneur Competition which could lead to a Prize of £500 funding and a Business Start-up Kit plus professional mentoring from a real Entrepreneur! Please note: You must be aged 13 or over to take part in this part of the prize.


The Details:


It’s a New Year, with new starts and new ideas and we want to hear about them.


If you could run any business for the day, what would it be? What would you do differently? Do you think they need to change things?


We are looking for the next generation of entrepreneurs, so show us what makes you stand out from the crowd. This is a chance for your ideas to get noticed, and for you to gain funding & be mentored by an experienced entrepreneur should you first of all, win the Y7-9 House Dragons Den Competition!


Maybe you have your own idea for a business that fills a gap in the market, or improves a product or service that already exists.

Closing Date:


Friday 3rd February 2011 6pm!


Please note, submissions can come from an Individual, Pairs and Trios only and if you are more than one, then you must all be in the same House!

Resolutions for 2012

Well at least a few thoughts if you have not made any resolutions yet:

  1. Shake off the Christmas lethargy
  2. Get cultured and start by visiting places on your doorstep
  3. Look after the pennies
  4. Spend time with the family
  5. Broaden your horizons
  6. Learn a new skill
  7. Get fit and stay sporty
  8. Be kind to animals and other people
  9. Take time to relax
  10. Care for the planet
  11. Get out more
  12. Give something back - by doing charity or voluntary work
Well Ill be thinking of how many of the above I can fit in so I hope you are too

The launch of the OSA Prayer Space, part of an ongoing series of ‘Faith Awareness Weeks’. (This is the first one, presented by Oxford Youth Works in collaboration with Emmanuel Church).

  • have a quiet prayer for someone who might need your help and support this Christmas.
  • reflect on where you are with your learning.
