You may or may not be aware that in the UK 85% of all business is small business. At Oxted School we work
hard to develop the skill set that sets entrepreneurs apart from those other
learners.
Last term we had the pleasure of
hosting the Young Enterprise ‘Tenner Challenge’ to two whole year groups. Year 7 and Year 9 just ahead of their options
to see if any budding business types had not chosen it as an option from key
stage 4.
On Friday 6th May the best
of the rest were invited to present their products and services on stalls
before pitching their wits in a Dragons Den style arena which included SamGiymah the local Conservative MP, Rachel Watkyn Founder and MD of Tiny Box and
the Deputy Head of Oxted School Nick O Flynn. The images below show how much the learners enjoyed the experience and how impressive their products actually were. They certainly demonstrated the schools motto above in the way they applied themselves to this extra curricular challenge as well as developing their powerful learner characteristic, Collaboration, Resilience, Creativity, Resilient, Resourceful and Reflective on their way.
Well done Infinity and Beyond for scooping the main award. A taster of the stalls can be seen below followed by some of the teams that made the Oxted School final.
Certificates and badges will be handed out in assembly to all those who made it to the final. See below.
